New here from Pennsylvania - I just aquired a 71 Mach 1 and noticed an electric fuel pump wired up in the trunk on the left side behind the wheel well. There is a toggle switch wired up to the center console. Is the electrical fuel pump the way to go or would the mechanical style fuel pump be good enough for a 800cfm 4 barrel carb?

I think mech would work, but you're adding a little more drag to the motor. Plus you lose the kill switch in the console. Does it not work right?

Not sure if it's working properly yet, had some carb issues..overhauling as we speak. Would I need a fuel pressure regulator for the electric pump with a carb set up?

You will have to have a pressure regulator to get it down low enough for a carb. One other thing you'll need a fuel shut off in case of a wreck, otherwise it keeps pumping tll the battery dies.
