Hey guys so I'm back with another question. I was checking my oil and it seems really slippery, I had it changed like a month or two ago and have put maybe 1k miles on it, probably way way less, oil is starting to get grimy and its really slippery and smells like gas. What could cause this? Could it be that its cold up here, my thermostat is stuck closed and my fan clutch is locked so the engine never gets about 130-140 on stock gauge. I'm really hoping its not bad blow by, I don't have the money to redo the bottom end... Thanks in advance.

STUCK OPEN Thermostat is stuck OPEN

I compared the difference in oil to fresh oil, smell is completely different as is viscosity... not the right term, but its definitely more slippery

Well I changed my oil, its smells "gassy" but not like pure gas, didnt notice a big difference in viscocity between my used and new oil, im not burning oil... at least no blue smoke out the exhaust, no major oil loss. Where would I start troubleshooting as far as looking into fuel issues? Thanks guys.

Do you have anything done to your car? Like tune, bigger injectors... If your car is running rich over time it will make your oil get gas in it

Mostly stock, It is running cold (thermostat stuck open, fan clutch locked) so it smells rich.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I believe the computer will keep the engine in closed loop mode if the engine is running too cold due to your stuck fan and thermostat, therfore the computer will make the engine run rich; yielding your problem. Hope that helps man

yeah that's what I was thinking. I'll change the thermostat this Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes and if it helps!
