Sorry I've been absent from the thread for a while since I bought a firebird as well.

My mustang looks as if the gas tank has rusted after years of driving it everyday in new england, snow and rain included. Does anyone have experience with this type of removal and installation? Any idea how much a shop may charge to replace or repair something like that?

It's really not hard. Unbolt the filler in the fuel door. Unbolt the two straps that hold the tank and lower. unclip the fuel lines and electrical connector and it's out

yeah it's really a simple tank to drop...i reccomend using a jack to lower the tank just enough to get your hand in there to unhook the pump harness so you don't accidently rip it out
