Here's my current setup: JBA shorty headers, Procharger Super Charger and Roush cat back axle mufflers.
I am going to get a GT500 rear bumper and GT500 cat backs from Ford Performance.

My predicament is do I want to keep a louder sound with my current setup, or quieter sounds with a GT500 bumper and quad tip exhausts for the visual appeal?

The shop that wrote my custom tune for me said not to do higher flow cats because that will throw check engine lights all over the place because of the super charger. The custom exhaust shop said not to bother with larger pipes.

Soo, the question is audio appeal vs visual appeal...
What d'yall think?

Thanks,
Marc

There is no such thing as a "high flow" cat. That's one of the performance market lies that everyone falls for. NEW cats will flow better than older ones and improve power but if your car is newer then don't worry about it. A properly functioning cat will not throw codes tho, if a tuner told me that I would think twice about using that tuner.

Larger pipes would only be useful if your setup actually needs it. Bigger very often is not better and might even cost you power. If the exhaust shop is good and is saying stick with the pipes you have then do that.

Finally... get the one that actually SOUNDS better. Too many ppl with super loud exhaust setups that sounds like a bag of dicks rattling around in a can. Don't be that guy compensating for something with the loudest *** exhaust possible that sounds like ****. Put that money towards suspension mods if you haven't already. If you are still on stock suspension that should be your next ASAP thing to work on.

This is my my opinion and my opinion only, put the GT500 Quads on and throw the Roush in the scrap pile at the exhaust shop.
The 3.7 sounds like crap when it is super loud, I had Magnaflow Competition Axle backs on mine for less than 100 miles and vowed to not get loud with the V6 again, I have the Mellowest aftermarket you can get with the Borla Touring. In fact my F150 had a Roush on it when I bought it and I took the Roush AKA Dronemaster off my F150 and have a Borla on it also.

I have Ford Racing by Borla Grand Touring axle back and the FF X pipe. Borla has a tone that I just love.

Scurfie, nice set up but...

That's a nice set up, but its not quad tips which is what I am going for. So, I'll have to hear how the Ford Performance Quad tips sound, and if I don't like it, I may have to bite the bullet and go with the Corsa Quad tips to see how they sound.

As far as the tuner goes, does anyone know of a good tuner in the Rhode Island / South Eastern MA area?
