Is the reason for the H pipes to be able to install the dual exhaust. Because I was looking a set that they had with the cat's and the H-pipes together.

Is that all I need for my single exhaust V6?

Your y-pipe is what comes right after your headers. Its the stock crossover pipe that they put on the car straight from the factory. The y-pipe is shaped just like a Y and what it does is route the dual exhaust (from the headers) into a single exhaust. It needs to be cut whenever installing true dual exhaust, though some do a ?fake? dual exhaust where the Y pipe is left intact and a backwards Y pipe is welded on to the back of the one in front, you will not gain much if any power with this type of setup and it is used mostly for the ?look? of real duals.
H-pipe Tech:
H pipes are used on v8 cars to equalize the pressure during their firing order.
Our v6's fire "evenly" because of this even firing order there is no need to equalize anything. So most people use H pipes for the sound it creates. Not for performance gains. Many people say it "removes" that popping sound.
V8 Firing Order: "1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8"
V6 Firing Order: "1-4-2-5-3-6"

X-pipe Tech:X-pipe
An X-pipe works pretty much the same as the H-pipe on a v6. Of course like the name, it looks like an X.
The picture on the right is a custom made X pipe for a v6 mustang. X-pipes are used for better pressure equalization. But again on a v6 its not really needed.

the articles is very good although i have one more question. So, the only way for me to get true dual exhaust is to cut the factory y pipe? and how will I be able to connect them? By welding?

you have to get rid of the factory y pipe for ture duals. Yes some welding is required

What is seriously the differences between the Y and X pipe? If they are both to disperse the air evenly why have Y's and X's?

An H-pipe works by giving the air in the exhaust tubing an alternate path when it gets backed up and it also scavenges the air helping get the pressure equal through-out the system. An X-pipe works the same way but when it comes to the x junction, the air can go either way with more ease and creates a smoother flowing exhaust.

Noone that i know of does. I belive Brent found someone that makes em on ebay. That or you could get just the "x" and have a shop fab up the rest

hmm seems like a good idea but I am got sure if i trust any shops around here, How hard would it be to rig one together you think?

Would a ford dealer carry X or H pipes? Would they be able to fab one for me?

Ford will not carry them. X-pipes are expensive to fabricate. Hell, my H-pipe was expensive to fabricate.

I'd just go with one off ebay and have a shop weld it up. If they can't weld up an x or h-pipe they wouldn't be in business.

well an x-pipe is not going to help you muc more than an h-pipe until you're pushing some serious power. You'd be better off with an h-pipe until then. And then you could just have someone make an X to weld in place for you.

although i may be better off with an H pipe for now, I still want an X pipe so i dont have to worry about switching it later. I went on spintech to see there X pipes and I dont know which ones will fit my car. 04'. Is the junction just the X part and I will have to weld more pipe onto in later?
