Hi all
I'm working on my 67 mustang and I'm having trouble with headers. I'm in the middle of a motor swap going from the original 200 to a 351w. I decided to change to a cable clutch. The headers can not be too close to the cable. O and did i mention that it is a power steering car. I bought a pair of headman long tubes but it hit the cylinder for the power steering. I don't know what to do now. Any ideas?

you mean its hitting the rack and pinion? how bad is it hitting? if its not much you can just dimple the headers with a ball pean hammer.

It does not have rack and pinion. It is the power steering cylinder that is mounted horizontally from the frame to the linkage.

Would you happen to have a picture handy. I'm just very curious to see how bad. Are you now considering stock exhaust manifold?

I need about 2 inches. Short of having the header reworked i don't know what to.

Could convert it to a manual rack..

Have you checked for any after market ps slave brackets? Move the cylinder down an inch and then shim the motor up an inch off the mounts. There's your 2 inch clearance. Get a machine shop to fab an extra inch on the bracket too might be an option. Good luck.

Cj pony parts has a drop bracket for the slave cylinder it's like $20

Thanks everyone i ordered the bracket. That should solve all my issues with the headers.
