I have a 88 GT with off road h-pipes. I want to get some headers that will work the best for sound and speed. What do you guys recommend?
I'm running BBK equal length headers and love them!! And the price is right, or go with JBA and Bassani for almost triple the price, but i don't know if you'll even notice a performance difference or not!!!

Actually for the pita that installing shorties are, equal length shorties are more bang, they are more buck.
1. LT's
2. Equal length shorties.
3 Unequal shorties.
I would agree with that order. I will also expand on my opinion. The disadvantages of unequal length shorties mainly occurs when using a turbo charger. You need the exhaust temp for each cylinder to be equal so that you're not putting a strain on the turbos, as well as maintaining smoother exhaust pulses.

Advantages of shorties: Cheaper, Lighter, More efficient exhaust path for almost all cylinders, cleaner engine bay.

Please let me know if I am wrong on any points. :headbang:

Long tubes are good for exhaust scavenging but are not as good for high flow turbo setups and cause clearance (on lowered cars) issues as well as being more* annoying to install. Price is way higher.

I was under the impression that long tubes were flat out the best but at the cost of clearance and cost.
They weigh more and dont breath as well if youre using an adder especially turbo

My car is pretty low, I went with equal lengths mainly because of clearance issues
All the curves in equals add weight and resistance. They only are really good imo for turbos when you need to have close exhaust gas temps on each cylinder. Sorry for repeating myself but I really want to know if I'm wrong. Speaking of, where has Trojan been ??

They use longs b/c they are trying to get more power on the ground. As earlier stated...longs will build more low end torque vs shorts. Torque is what gets you moving (duh). I'm not sure about turbo apps, I go au natural.

I'd like to see any dyno sheet where shorties make more horsepower than long-tubes, all other mods the same. Have fun trying to find one because you won't.

Long tubes give more torque over shorties but don't sacrifice anything other than previous mentioned clearance and cost
