Hello all,

I recently got a 2012 Mustang GT Convertible (don't worry I'll eventually make a thread with some pictures) and have been trying everything to make sure it works.

First, I want to lay it out that it was like lower to mid 80's this morning and I had my top up on my commute to work.

I wanted to see if I could feel the seats so I turned my drivers side one on. I waited, but never felt anything. So I then turned on the passenger seat that had no one in it. Still never felt anything after waiting 5-10 minutes.

Could it be because it's just so hot outside even though it was early in the morning? Or do you think they're broken? I pressed down on the passenger to really try and feel some sort of heat but felt nothing. Are these heated seats just weak and probably can only be felt in sub 50/60 degree weather?

I just got out of a loaner 2015 Ford Fusion with leather heated seats. They had 3 levels but man the higher would get you very toasty even in this 90-100 degree weather, they worked very well! Maybe my expectations were set too high.

Thanks for the help!

Dis the lights come on? If so, it's working. They've worked fine on my two s197s but, they aren't ***-boilers.

It's very possible the previous owner swapped the radio faceplate with a different one and the car doesn't have heated seats at all. You should feel it. You might check the fuse though, there is a dedicated 20a in the fuse box in the engine bay. Look at the manual and it tells you which one that is.

There should be no doubt if they're on or off, the difference is extremely noticeable. On my 11 V6 I only used them for the first 2 minutes of driving.

I had a Speed 3 before this with multi-setting heated seats. The ones in the Mustang are about level 1 to the Speed's seats, of three...that thing was an ***-boiler on level 3. I use the heated seats ALL the time, bc arthritis.

I guess they can vary. My daily is an 05 Audi A4. The heated seats have 6 settings (from 1-"is this on?" to 6 - "my seat is a volcano")
The mustang is about a 4 on the audi. Too warm for me to leave on for a whole ride but works well to get rid of the cold leather feeling.

Or our ***-boiling thresholds are different, more likely. :)

I've had two of these cars and they are the same, in this respect.

This car has NAV and the comfort package so it's not swapped out. Maybe they just aren't working. I'll check the fuses tonight, thanks.

Hm, mine must be dead then. Even though it was 80's you'd think I could still feel them. Thanks

I've turned them on as a joke with my wife in the passenger seat, she definitely felt it. We were also in southwest Florida at the time.

Does the light indicate they're turned on?

That question was directed to the OP, not as a general question. He didn't answer it when you asked him.

As in, OP, when you push the button, does an orange light appear immediately after?

Well first off you need to have significant weight on the seat for it to heat up. The seat doesn't heat it's own leather it heats who's sitting in it. Have a passenger, like a gf or a wife sit in the passenger seat, turn the heated seats on and after 10 mins if you put you hand between Their thigh and the seat it should be an inferno. Now as for trying this in the summer. If the seat is hot to begin with, aka having the sun beating down on them, the thermostat in the seat might be satisfied and not turn the elements on, heated seats don't stay on all the time, they jog. They have thermostats in then just like your house for heat and Ac. Try it with the top up and get the interior cold with max Ac and see if they work then.

Now this is what I was getting at. If this is true, then I bet money that's what's happening.

Yes the light comes on... come on guys... lol
