i have a 1997 mustang convertible, i replaced the head unit, inside speakers and added 2 12'' subs, there is one amp for the subs and i have two three way speakers and two two way speakers on the inside, the bass really kicks and sounds good but when i turn up the music the vocals sound terrible, what can i do to fix the distortion? should i get another amp for just the speakers? or is there somthing im missing?

try turning the bass down coming from the head unit to the speakers and dont turn the volume up so high, you are probably sending a dirty signal from the head unit anyway.

Two 12" subs are easily going to overpower two pairs of speakers in the front running off of a deck. If you were to turn the gain dial on the amplifier down when you turn your music up to about 75% (try not to go any higher) - this will simply give the strongest sound signal to your speakers and amplifier without creating distortion. If you're not satisfied with the bass not being bassy enough in order to not overpower your speakers, you really need to invest in a 4-channel amplifier. At the same time, I can already tell that your system is full of bass and is lacking a tremendous amount of mids and highs.

Maybe you could try playing around with the equalizer settings. It could be the head unit you have is not putting out enough power for your speakers, in that case you can either get a new stronger head unit or buy a smaller amp just for the speakers. Also if your subs are taking to much power away from your cars power use a capacitor.

Pioneer DEH-1300MP CD Receiver with MP3/WMA Playback and Remote Control is a great receiver, especially for the price.I hardly ever switch it off these days.It even survived a speaker mis-wiring that resulted in the receiver getting so hot that it shut itself down and now that the speakers are connected correctly performs flawlessly.
