Hi, I need your help!!!! My dad restored a 1965 coupe for me, and did most of the maintenance and repairs for it. He unfortunately passed away in December, and I refuse to get rid of it! I have a few issues that definitely need attending to!
1- I would like to install rear seatbelts, so the munchkins can cruise too!(I have the seatbelts)
2-I also have a hubcap center, that I need to figure out how to install
3-my gas gauge isin't reading, and I think there's a leak somewhere, but I've been charting gas and mileage, so that I don't get stranded.
I tried googling, but it just gives me forum links, and any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
Kristin

Welcome and sorry for your loss. Seat belts should bolt right up try taking off the bottom rear seats to find the holes. As for gas, it might be the sending unit. You will have to drain the tank take it out and check out the unit. If you're up for it we can guide you through the process. As for the leak. A gas leak or what kind of leak. You'll have to jack the car up and follow the gas lines. It could be a rubber hose that's sprung a leak and its fairly easy to replace

1965 may not have had rear seatbelts originally so you may but have the threaded holes to bolt I to. I'll see if I can find a link with a solution. I put 3 point belts in the rear of mine for the kids. But I haven't seen the kit available in a while.

You might want to have them professionally installed if you need these.
Also saw the rear 3 points on the CJ Pony Parts sight.

Yeah I'd have the holes professionally made if you have no experience with that sort of work. Seat belts are not something to skimp out on especially for children.

Okay so you may have a gas leak you say? I would hack up the rear end and check the tank and follow the fuel line it should go from the tank through the left side (drivers side) of the car. And it goes directly to the fuel pump, from the pump I goes to the filter and from the filter to the carb. Check out all the clamps and make sure their tight and inspect for leaks

You can test your sending unit before you go taking everything and as far as the seT belts you can just pop off the back seat and take a look to sea of theres holes and def find where that gas leak is thats no good and very un safe

Yeah, I know, someone get the gallows ready! I don't work much on my '66 engine so I'm not familiar with the engine sizes. I know that mine is the 200 cu I6. I have no experience with bigger engines :( I know a lot about the new edge 3.8 though :)

But yeah, if you have a question, I'm pretty sure someone here knows the answer
