I was driving and the streets started flooding on my way to my wife's mom house and the cold air intake filter got water in it and the car was acting like it wanted to stop so I creeped it to the house can I just take the filter off and drive it home after about a hour

Wouldn't recommend that. Take the filter off and shake it as much as you can.

The reason your car was sputtering or acted like it wanted to stop was because the MAF sensor most likely got wet.

Ideally you would want to spray it off with some MAF cleaner or some electronics cleaner. Do not use carb cleaner or brake cleaner. The MAF sensor is very sensitive.

No problem man.

I had the same thing happen on my last truck. I had a CAI that was run in front of the radiator right behind the grille. I couldn't drive it in the rain because this would happen. Also scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. I ended up taking it off for this reason

Ok I took it off to drive home and it was fine b/c it was done raining

Clean the filter out with the appropriate cleaning kit and hit the MAF with some MAF cleaner just to be sure. Everything else should be fine. I would not recommend even trying to drive in standing water tho... you suck up enough water and boom, hydrolock.
