Hey guys so recently I notice that my 05 v6 stang is leaking water, I couldn't find from where. Today I found this thing that looks like it needs a hose or something connected to it. If anyone knows what it is called or where it goes to, please let me know. I will post pics. Thanks in advance!

It's from the left side, looking down from the hood

How is your coolant level?

Does the heater work?

At a glance it looks like a heater core return hose should be there. I will have to look again tonight when I have a bit of free time.

I would send a message to 3SevenStangVids. He is a member here, and a V6 enthusiast. He can likely tell you exactly what you have going on.

That looks like the condensation drain for the HVAC box located underneath the dashboard .
Water will leak out of it while using the air conditioning, and in some cases, the defroster.

Is it supposed to be connected to something?

I'm not sure. It could have had a short length of hose attached to it at one time, to help direct the water from dripping on to the exhaust and such.

Is that in the general area that you are noticing a puddle of water underneath the car after parking it?

Yes, there is a puddle. I've had to add water a few times now.

Are you only noticing a puddle on warm days when you are using the ac?
How much coolant have you had to add to the reservoir? And how often have you had to add it?

I noticed it about 3 days ago, on the first day I added 1 gallon, second day, 3/4 gallon, yesterday 1/2 gallons. I don't use my a/c though, not because it doesn't work, but because I like driving with my windows down.

You have a bad leak then.
When the engine is idling at operating temperature, can you see coolant dripping from that pipe?
I haven't noticed that, I believe it's when I turn off the car and it sits

Interesting.
I recommend borrowing a cooling system pressure tester from one of the auto parts stores in your area. That way you can pressurize the system and hopefully figure out where the leak is.
And keep a close eye on the coolant level in the meantime!

I'll do that, by any chance do you know if that tip needs a hose or Anything?

I'm not sure. I own the previous generation Mustang, so yours is a little different than my car. I'm pretty sure that is the condensation drain, but not 100%.
I think that if it was one of the heater core pipes, the coolant would be running out of it very rapidly.
