I have a 2000 v6 automatic and it starts fine, idles fine, no problems there. However, when I drive it the engine revs but the car doesn't accelerate. Then it "drops" into gear and finally accelerates. I've checked hoses, pcv, changed the transmission fluid and filter and put a new O2 sensor in. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks guys but now it only goes in reverse. Do I need to get a new transmission? And yes the check engine light is on.

Transmission rebuild is cheaper, if you know what your doing or have a good place to take it too. When you changed the fluid, it wasnt a complete flush, the new fluid broke loose some of the sludge in you tranny. You spool valves are probably stuck with varnish and all kinds of crap now. But you definitely need a diagnostic run on it, and yes it will throw codes and set your check engine light.
