I posted this on another forum and didnt get many replies but just wanna let you guys know also. Here is what I posted
I know this is subject is old. I just want to simply drive a few points home with my experience.

I took my car to a dealer today to send the info to Ford for repair. Also I asked about the clearcoat on the decklid. Pictures were taken and sent to Ford. I found out that I was 1 month outside of my 3/36 warranty. The car has 23000 miles. Also corrosion is 5 year unlimited mileage but IT WILL NOT COVER IT IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A HOLE WHERE THE RUST IS. Mine does not. If I had been within my 3/36 they would have fixed the hood.

Now here is why I made this post. If you see any rust bubbles dont wait because the warranty started when the original owner purchased the car. I know this is common knowledge but do you know when your car was originally purchased if you bought it used?

Secondly, I called Ford 1 (800) 392-3673 and talked to customer service. The representative who was very helpful is going to see if Ford will fund some of the cost to paint the hood. They are gonna call me tomorrow and let me know.

Again this thread is just to drive home the point of not waiting. I am gonna start looking at aftermarket hoods. I like the Cervini Cobra R but since my car is black, I dont know if it will look as good as a white one. Google Sublime mustang and you will see what I am talking about.

If anyone wants pictures of the hood or decklid let me know and I will post them.
That was what I posted a couple of days ago. For an update, Ford contacted me today and stated they would pay half of the cost to repaint the hood. So I will have to pay $189. I told them I would let them know in a couple of days cause I wanted to do some research and see if anyone had it done and the rust came back. I talked to the body shop and he said he gives a two year warranty on all his work. Also he has done it before and has had no problem. So I think I am gonna get it done. I really want a Roush Hood scoop because I think it is my best option on a black car.

Opinions and thoughts are welcomed.

I've been through this, only luckily while still under warranty. They repainted the original hood and a year to the day almost it was back at Ford because the corrosion was back. Second time around they replaced the hood without blinking an eye. At the time my hood was replaced they also did the decklid because the clear was chipping just above the faux gas cap.my dealer said Ford's instructions regarding the decklid was buff/clean or replace at discretion

Personally I wouldn't spend any money to repair your current hood, it's trash. See if you can talk them into 50% of an OEM replacement or bite the bullet and go aftermarket.

I had mine repainted, but was in the warranty. Its crap how some say their dealer treats the rust/corrosion. My dealer sent me to the body shop saying it should be covered and the guy at body shop didnt even get my mileage or anything before looking at hood and said they would fix it no charge, even said they would replace my stripes from PO which was god awful, but I turned that offer down. Mine has been fine since it was painted over a year ago

After thinking about it, I am gonna wait and see if it pops through the paint. I still have two years on the rust corrosion plan to fix it. No need in spending money.

Problem is, it's not the paint popping that triggers the warranty. Ford will say no hole in the hood/panel, no coverage.
