I just bought my 02 gt and I seem to be filling it up more often than my f150. I'm lucky to squeeze out 200 miles before the needle is all the way on empty. The previous owner put aftermarket black face gauges in the car and I'm wondering if maybe the reading could be off as a result. I thought I read somewhere that the tach redline is higher than the stock gauges so maybe the gas gauge is off? Idk. All my driving is mainly around town and even with taking it easy I feel like I'm filling it up way too much

Any thoughts?

Have you done a tune up on the car?Change the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, O2 sensors etc ? what gears are in the car? Is it auto or 5 spd? what kind of gas mileage are you expecting from your car?

I drive a 97 gt. if I'm lucky I get 100 miles out of my tank. I believe it's 12-15 gallon tank. About 40 bucks or so to fill. It is stick but it's a gt what do you expect it's not made for good gas mileage lol. My 95 v6 got 180 our of a whole tank and cost the same amount to fill aha it's a joke sometimes lol

Sounds about right, thats not bad.. I get about 200 miles per fill up with my 02 GT 5 spd and I do get on it quite often.

Alright thanks, I'm used to filling up but maybe it's the smaller tank that has me filling up more than usual.

I get around 20-21 MPG in my v6 Auto. Around 280-300 miles to a tank. When I first got my car, the gas gauge was way off. Has aftermarket gauges so I took out the gas needle and fixed it.

My dads f250 goes about 320 miles on a full tank, and its a tad over 100$ to fill..so 40$ bucks to fill my GT and go for 200 miles, not much complaint

The tank on the mustang is really small so you will be filling it up more than an f-150 making it seem like its using a lot more gas. Taking really short trips like 1-2miles kills gas milage. i get around 14-15mpg and thats in the 5-speed, with city driving only.

You need to figure it out the right way.. telling everyone it cost 40 to fill your tank doesn't feel anyone much because gas prices are not the same every ware.. or saying you get 200-300 per tank.. 100 miles is almost 5 gal that's 20$... do this.....

Fill your car up... drive it to at least 100 miles.. fill it up again.. (don't look at the price that doesn't matter).. take the miles you drove divided buy the gallons you put in example... 100miles ÷ 5.5gal = 18.18

Give us that number and then we can tell how bad it really is.. no of this 200-300 miles per tank..
