I have a 1981 Ford Fairmont, in practically mint condition, which used to belong to my gramps. He had put in the engine of a 1979 Ford Mustang (5 Litre V8) among other things. Unfortunately, I rear-ended an SUV and the trailer hitch punched a hole through the grill and mucked up the radiator. It's fixable but not worth the time and money for me to bother with it, so I was going to junk it. However, gramps thinks I can get a decent sum for the motor (more than the pocket change from the scrap yard).
How does one go about finding the value for such things to determine a realistic asking price?
