I have a 1981 Ford Fairmont, in practically mint condition, which used to belong to my gramps. He had put in the engine of a 1979 Ford Mustang (5 Litre V8) among other things. Unfortunately, I rear-ended an SUV and the trailer hitch punched a hole through the grill and mucked up the radiator. It's fixable but not worth the time and money for me to bother with it, so I was going to junk it. However, gramps thinks I can get a decent sum for the motor (more than the pocket change from the scrap yard).

How does one go about finding the value for such things to determine a realistic asking price?

call a salvage yard ask how much a motor woul dcost from them then you know how much you might sel it for but really that might take yrs to find one person that needs one sure if you sell it for parts you would make money off it but thats over time and how salvage yards do it over time say 330 to 500 bucks maybe if you find someoine who wants it sell it
