I found a 93 Ford Mustang for sale, and before I buy it, i need to find out ROUGHLY how much if not, exactly, how much it would cost to order a replacement key from my local dealership? How would I go about this so I know what to expect. I don't want to spend the money to order a new starter along with a new key, or spend a ridiculous amount to get a special made key. If anybody works at a Ford dealership, or has gotten a key replaced in near past, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

According to amazingkeys.com you have a standard non chipped key in a 1993 Ford Mustang. The Ford dealer no longer has codes for anything over 10 model years old because Ford purges the codes out of the system. So you can not get a key from the Ford dealer.

If you already have a key then you can simply get a copy made at any good hardware store. If not, you will need to have a locksmith come to the car and make a key for it. They charge around $100 to make a key for this type of vehicle.

The 1994 Mustang key is a plain key, so I am sure the 1993 would be also. I nearly had to have a key made from a door lock about 15 years ago, and the locksmith quoted me $30 if I brought the lock cylinder from the passenger door. I would guess it would be about $50 today. I didn't ask how much if he removed and reinstalled the lock, but I guess it would have been about another $100.
