Recently I installed the MSD BTM and I would like to know the correct form to use. I have to set the control knob from 1 - 3* to ****** the timing before crank the engine or while driving?

Recently I installed the MSD BTM and I would like to know the correct form to use. I have to set the control knob from 1 - 3* to ****** the timing before crank the engine or while driving?
You need to figure out how many degrees of timing you need to pull out to prevent your engine from detonating.
The BTM will pull from 1 to 3 degrees per psi of boost.
So if you set it on 1 and produce 8 psi of boost the BTM will ****** your timing 8 degrees.
I believe the maximum advance recommended under boost is 28 degrees, so you will need to figure out what you need to set the BTM at to keep your advance limited to 28 degrees.

You should have gotten instructions on the BTM's usage with the unit.
If not, it is probably available on the MSD website.

I read the instructions but I'm not sure how to set the ******. I friend of mine told me that he move the control knob while driving. He move it from 0* to the desired timing ****** at WOT. Not make sense for me.

I want to be sure if just set the timing ****** to my needs and no need to move while driving.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to move it while you are driving.
I think you set it to the amount of ****** you need and leave it there.
I'll see if I can find some information to be sure.

I agree because I would think having to change it will driving would defeat the purpose of running your boost line to it.it should automatically retarded the amount you have set according to how much boost runs through it.
Again I haven't used it either.

I was unable to locate anything specifically saying how to use the BTM, but the documentation I read pretty much says to use it as I described in my previous post.
Set it to the desired position and leave it there.
If you crank around on the knob with the engine running there is a possibility of confusing your ECU and causing your car to run poorly, because the ECU is constantly checking sensor outputs and adjusting your engine's operating parameters.

nice!so how did the btm work out?i actually heard that they quit manufacturing them.but there are still plenty on the shelves.
I set the BTM to 3* and leave it there. I have to be safe until the tuning is complete.
