Every says get LT headers because they are so much better than shorties, right? Well why do these company's make shorties and waste they're time? Is it that big of a diff? I'm sure diff parts will compliment these shorties. I'm new to the mustang build. So help me understand.

They make shorties so you can still have your factory or catted mid pipe. Longtubes ARE better, but require a different mid pipe and sometimes even a tune. So basically you can get a little something like shorties and not change much or you can go big and do long tubes, midpipe. In most cases, if your doing long tubes, you pretty much have full exhaust!

shorties do help. im not sure of your year but some years benifit less than others.

the hp increase is just minimal compared to longtubes. but the benifits are as stated you can keep your midpipes, they look sexier than stock, they are easier to install than longtubes, and they are cheaper.

some cars you may only see a few hp and other models maybe up to 10-15

Thanks that helps out a lot. I have a 2000 gt manual. And my car came with a full SLP exhaust system manifolds back with deleted cats and no mufflers.

Shortys are also for the people that have emissions because LTs can cause you to fail emissions... Also shorts will flow better then stock, you just won't see the gains right away...

What's a descent set of LT and also shorties to go with? I don't want to spend top dollar on them either just something reasonable in price but will work. After that I plan on buying a vortech system.

You can't go wrong with Borla LT's but man, they put a hurtin on the wallet... Big time.
