I was wondering if anyone out there would know a website or just for absolute certain know how to do the conversion. I wouldn't even bother spending the money on this car if it wasn't for it being a coupe. Since the 2-door Vics are rare enough and I wanted to make it a little extra special and have the 5.0. H.O. roaring under the hood. I have a pretty basic Idea of what I need, I just wish I had someone that has done this before to ask or use as a reference. I suppose any stock 5.0. conversion to H.O. will do seen as the Lincolns a lot of the time used the same engine. So any help would be appreciated. And please no smart *** answers. It's not like I can just go out and find an 89 Mustang H.O., buy it and swap out everything (even though that really seems like what I'm going to need to do) I'm talking like what computer do I need, where can I buy it, what can I get from the junkyard, will I need a new camshaft, will the stock wiring harness be able to be used? That kind of stuff.

i recommend you use the "carb" & intake currently on your crown vic, then all you need to do is change the firing order to 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. its an easy swap that will give you an extra 30-40hp and every thing else (including your AOD kick down linkage) will work.
the 87 0-2 sensor will recurve the fuel/air mixture to accomidate the H.O. motor.
in my oppinion the cost / Trouble of converting to multiport EFI isnt worth it for the few extra horses.
i wrecked my "rare" 86 grand grand marquis 2dr so i know how you feel about your car.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS :
you dont say what year/ model H.O. motor you intend to use so all i can tell you is :
if the induction system is the same your harness will plug right in
if not you will have to use your current induction system.

i thought the 87 crown vic only came with CFI induction AKA throttle body injection (looks like a 2bbl carb)
i didnt know multiport EFI was an option (on the 87 crown vic)
BUT IT IS a rare coup and likely custom ordered.

P.S. i just read http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsEVh9P74o9xOr180LmEJDvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080705032837AAG6ur1
and i am gonna tell you i like the 5.Oh plan but i think all your 87 302 needs is a new timing chain & gears. $25 parts.

I think you would be wasting your time with such a small motor and such a heavy car, your gains would be rather minimal in MHO

when you replace 5.0 to H.O. you will definitely need the computer too. also remember all H.O. engines have air tubes to the throttle body that go to the passenger side. if your air tubes are on the driver side this is not an H.O. motor, be careful people will sell you any kind of crap if you don't know what you are looking for!!
