I have a 66 Mustang with an inline 6cyl., 200cid engine.
I've been having problems with the pistons clattering and I need to set the timing.

What is the degrees?

I plan on using unleaded gas (not out of choice) and I primarily use the car for a lot of freeway driving, though stop-and-go in the streets is also a big part.

It's not for racing, though I have a heavy foot, so that needs to be taken into account as well.

Someone said 12 degrees, but that is obviously not correct, at least not for my engine. This one book said 12 as well, but it didn't have the option of w/o some electrical thingamajoob.

Set it at 8 degrees, with the vacuum line off, and leave it there. If you're getting a "ping" start using a fuel additive because the car was made before unleaded gas' otherwise the valves and seats unless already updated won't last long
