I've owned my 65 coupe since 85. Been a daily driver until 2005. Now, decided to create some more power w/o much alteration from stock. Considering my first step is the IL6, replacing the head to allow for more fuel volume. Need some counsel what my options are.

Go online to Classic Inlines. Your wallet is the limit to what you can do. They're about the only place where you can get a different head. Aluminum version of the Australian design (simplified explanation, there's a lot of engineering!)

I went the online 6 web site I'm rethinking my project. Have any ideas where to pick up a fresh 289 and a t5 trany?

Anywhere! That's why I kept my 6 cylinder!! I kept it just to be different. If you're going to put in a V8, you might as well get the 5.0L along with the T5. If you swap over, make sure you research it and make all the changes to do it right. There have been threads that discuss it.
