Anybody got any good ways to improve torque in my 2013 v6 without breaking the bank? Or lack there of...
Lower gear is numerically higher and vice versa. You want to go to a larger number to increase torque and acceleration. Stock is either 2.73 or 3.31 depending on your build. Most go with 3.73s.Which is better to have a higher or a lower number with gear numbers? Very very very new at this I traded a Camry hybrid for this car if that tells you where I'm coming from...
I have 4.10's as well. I love the acceleration and hate my mpg lol but yea TB is honestly a complete waste of time unless ur going FI. No one said a TB is better than Gears tho.I knw it feels like that and in the end It will give him better response than a tb would trust me when I went with 4.10s It felt so much quicker and faster off the start. But thinking a tb will be a better improvement than gears would is just nonsense
Good that should be one of the first mods people should do! Lol. Yea I knw it's just a waste IMO of doing a tb but people still do itI have 4.10's as well. My friend is about to buy a pro charger so I told him to buy the BBK TB he literally has everything on the project car on AM except the procharger and he added more suspension work thoGood that should be one of the first mods people should do! Just depends if you drive alot of hwy miles. If so then yes. The gears will make your rpms be higher while going faster. For instance where you used to be at 1700 rpms crusing at 65 down the highway, you would be at 2300 rpms after gears. Thats just a example, no actual numbers. But yes you will lose mpg more than likely. So the gears would make my gas mileage go down??
As gear ratio numbers go up, so do all your RPMs which will bring mpgs down in all gears. As a comparison, GT owners w/ 3.31s report 18-20 mpgs while I get 12-13.5 w/ 3.73s. If you can consistently drive below 2K RPMs youll do better. I cannot do this, myself, b/c the car is too much fun to granny around. So the gears would make my gas mileage go down??
It's the only way to increase torque without a power adder. Does it increase engine output? No. It's a torque multiplier though and it will give him the kick in the pants he's looking for. Torque is one of those things you can't easily fix. Only two things, which don't exist for this car, could increase torque without a power adder: intake manifold and cams.Gears don't improve torque at all. It just improves acceleration. It makes you feel like you gained 60HP and 80lbs of torque but nope lol but either way they are an awesome upgrade but the OP wants torque.
