IRS Swap

So I'm going to be doing an IRS swap with a guy from a local forum and I was wondering how straightforward of a swap it is. He has an 03 Cobra and I've heard that I will need to swap a flange or something like that? If anybody has some insight on doing this, that would be great.

Let me know how it goes cuz I want to do the same
I will. I'm doing it this weekend so it wont be too long. The swap seems pretty straightforward.
I believe he will need the cradle for the irs as well as the shocks/struts that go along the rear end ofcouse which isnt a solid rear end but a diff with cv axles and upper and lower control arms. Im sure ill be corrected if incorrect and you will get your answer soon enough but its not a bolt on and go from what i know

From all the write-ups I've seen it bolts right up. The only problem is with 03/04 rear ends you need a special u-joint that fits both flanges.
So why are you doing this just curious?
He road races
+1 it's a better handling suspension for racing than a live axle and should allow for me to tune it towards my driving style.
I see i didnt know if you had a purpose or not
Well it its nice getting the look of the Cobra exhaust.
+1 gotta love that, what exhaust you gonna go with?
The guy I'm trading with currently has the Magnaflow catback with Bassani tips. If I don't like it then I'll buy some Bola Stinger mufflers.
Nice. Good luck, post a pic of it afterwards.
I will definitely do that. I'm just trying to decide if I should cut off a coil or not because he has the stock springs still.
I see, yeah i would go ahead and do that or wait after you get it installed and then drop it agin. i know the sra are easy to drop real fast. no experience with the irs
Me neither. I'll probably just leave it and wait to find a good deal on some rear springs.
Yeah but itlll be hard to find just rear springs
I've just got to look for a guy who did a SRA swap and doesn't need his rear springs.
Well yesterday was the day we had planned on trading but Colorado had a different idea. We ended up getting a nice blizzard so we cancelled and are trying to find another day to do it.
You will need the irs assembly. All mounting bolts plus the rear mount assembly (bolts to where your quad shocks are currently). Shocks and springs plus shock bolts. You will also need to swap pinion flanges or driveshaft end joints (i swapped pinion flanges as the cobra comes with a much stronger setup and I wanted to keep it).

I've done a few of these so feel free to ask any questions.
