i have a 1996 ford mustang v6. the motor has around 80xxx miles on it. i recently heard tapping comming from under the valve covers. the sound comes from both sides, so im not sure if its normal or not. any imout would be appreciated. thanks

Put a good motor flush in the oil, follow the directions, and change the oil. It needs a internal cleaning chemically, even if you still hear it I wouldn't;t worry, but that's why you need to use the right viscosity for the time of year it is. With no loss of power, a waste of money to fix.

Get a hold of a shop manual and see if its normal or not- some types and times of intermittent knocking is normal.
Plus I would have a compression test done (around $50 and worth every penny..) and change the oil and add a pint or quart of Lucas.- Does wonders.
Good luck and stay on top of it before it develops into something if anything worse!

It is most likely lifters Change the oil ad 1qt of lucas oil treatment if
it it does not stop then have a mechanic look at it
