Is there a difference between the flywheel for a 1987 mustang and a 1982 mustang?

Yes, there is. The 87 uses an 11 flywheel for 10.5 inch clutch sets. 82s up until 85 used 10-5/8 flywheels for 10 inch clutch sets.
