Car writers say nothing looks, drives or feels like a Ford Mustang, whether you buy one new or used. More importantly, buying used rather than new will help you get that retro-cool vibe the current Mustang is known for. According to Edmunds, any Mustang made between 1986 and 2004 is perfect "if you prefer a V8 rumble to drown out the rattles from your cheap ride's aging interior," and you should be able to find one from that time period for less than $5,000. Cars.com reports the Mustang is one of the top-10 most popular used cars based on reports from dealers and private sellers."








Wow..... Every ford, including classic models, that I have driven have, well, proved to be pieces of sshiit. Everyone in my family that ever owned a ford had to put massive amounts of work into the car. Same goes for any friends.

So is this article just trying to help ford out? It seems that way to me.

How many 3rd Gen F-Bodies have you driven or ridden in? Those cars exhibited some of the worst build quality even seen by a U.S. automaker. Fox bodies, SN-05, and New Edge Mustangs are almost vault-like in comparison.

I've had good luck with Fords. Have an old 1974 F-100 with around 280k miles on it, it just won't die. Had a 1992 T-Bird SC, sold it when it had 174k miles on it. Currently I have a 1995 Bronco with 197k on it, and an 03 Mustang GT w/ Kenne Bell blower that has 95k on it. Hard to have the transmission rebuilt on the Bronco around the 120k mile mark. But that's the only non-maintence repair I've ever had to make.

Anyway Ford doesn't need help right now. GM surely does though.

It is amazing how much bias is in the so called "unbiased" consumer media. Or the regular media for that matter. I can only guess at why such loyalty is bestowed on the stangs. I too have noticed a definite trend of poor cars, with few exceptions.

I have driven the first, the 65 Mustang.
As well as 1980's models and 1990's models and the newer models.

I do not see why people like them. Boring to drive, everything rattles and breaks down all the time, CHEAPLY made interior and plastics everywhere.

A lot of manufacturers pay for car.com to run basically infomercials for their car companies. Don't believe all you read. Not all Ford products are junk. They did make some really good rides. I had a Mercury Sable and I can truly say that it was the best car that I ever owned. There are a lot of Ford owners that have complained about the amount of work they have had to have to maintain their vehicles. I guess it comes down to this, You get a bad car from everybody every now and then. It is not all Fords.

Truthfully I don't think they have made a real Mustang since the 73 Mach 1
