I'm doing some work on my 2002 GT's 4.6 liter SOHC V-8 (replacing timing components), and I'm looking for opinions on the internal cleanliness/wear of the motor. I'm not an expert mechanic, and I'd like opinions on whether or not my motor looks clean inside, and the wear looks normal for an 18 year old motor, with 103,000 miles on it (it had 81,000 miles on it, when I bought it in October, 2015). At least, as far as you can tell by these pictures. I saw a video on YouTube recently of a 4.6 liter motor that had TONS of sludge under the valve (camshaft) covers, and I don't think my motor looks anything like that one!
