Going to the strip this weekend and have a little $ to spend. What's the single most noticeable suspension mod to help me hook a little better?

Subframe?

I already am lowered and have Koni struts and shocks

No need for adjustable lower control arms. Get a set of MM lower control arms, subframe connectors are important too. The stock chassis is pretty damn weak. Easy to twist.

Is there anything that will give me a noticeable bump for hooking or just wait and get a lot of stuff at once

When I put south side lift bars on my old car I couldn't believe how it felt on launch. But I already had sub frames.

They are not adjustable control arms. They lower the mounting point and add leverage to the rear. ImageUploadedByMustang Evolution1439778987.835490.jpg

^Those are relocation brackets, we do not need them on 05-down cars. Although I'd trade the 04-down 4 link for the 05+ rearend setup anyday.


For just hooking up a little better on the cheap, Steeda lower control arms are as good as MM (in my experience), cheaper and help hooking up. That along with subframes. If you need ground clearance or think you ever might want to run a side exhaust then get the Spintech subframes. Not too many ppl know that subframe but its got max ground clearance. Global West is another real good one and they sell a jacking rail/matrix setup for theirs too.


Although if one runs a TA/PHB setup that will sit lower than the subframes anyway. Which is another reason to run the 5 link or IRS :)

So whats going to be the best for cornering? I would also like to know (IRS car here)


Tires are the most obvious but lets omit that option

For you?

FTBR kit to sort the rear, coilovers on all 4 corners, CC plates and subframes.

And a good 4 wheel alignment obviously. Gots to get the rear aligned on the IRS cars too.

Gotta watch those uppers tho. The ones TJ listed are built to withstand a nuclear blast... which is very very bad for the torque boxes as well as binding up the rear suspension around corners. If you are just worried about launching in a straight line and are taking it easy around corners then you can weld the **** out of the boxes/install battle boxes and maybe be ok.


Steeda DOES provide a full solution for the rear tho and that is their 5 link which I will be doing to my 2000 eventually.


All that said, my 2000 Steeda car comes stock with that kit TJ listed so I am going to be very very careful going around corners till I swap it out. If I can get a good deal on some stock uppers or some heim joint uppers I may swap those in temporarily...

edit: Ooooh he has the Spintech subframes too! Or custom ones for the side exhaust. Anywho, that is what the Spintechs look like installed.
