Ya, air tools make short work of it. An Air rachet, and impact wrench will be the majority of the tools you need. Don't forget to bring your power steering pulley remover and installer if you got one. And definately don't forget the harmonic balancer pulley remover either.

Well how do you plan on getting to the bracket behind the power steering pulley that connects to the waterpump/timing cover? I'm sure you could fit a wrench back there, but I think that just makes it harder that way. I used to just pull off the pulley to get the bracket of, but that got old, so I just left it off completely.

V 6 tech

I hate to burst a bubble but an overhead cam motor has been around since the Dusenberg J and SJ . (so much for "old school" ) LOL its just more common since machine tooling has completly changed since the introduction of CNC maching and better casting techniques.

Peace

I had the timing cover off in 45 minutes. I took off all the engine brackets including the one that the steering pump mounted to. The engine was was broke down completely including intakes, heads, accessories, timing cover and cam in 1 hr and 30 mins. several hours was used to clean and prep before for reinstallation and about 2.5 hrs was used to actually put everything back to turn key and drive condition.

One note you dont have to remove the radiator. The V6 cam is short so it clears the radiator but you do have to remove the electic fan.;)

Correct, but I take mine off just as a safety procaution. I'd hate to be tring to get the cam out and then it give way and then have the cam go throught the radiator, plus I like the extra 2 or 3 inches removing it gives you. All in all, I just like to play it safe. And Corey you never answered my question about that bracket. How do you remove it with out removing the pulley? Everybody has there own way, I'm just curious to how you do it. It's the final product that matters.:D

:p: If you would fly me in I'll help! :p:

Seriously, I have some new SPI grinds that were very promising,
within 1-2 HP of the old grind, but that was also at high altitude
and with a much cheaper and smaller exhaust system than the
older grind had to work woth :) After the tune I expect more HP
with less mods :D at altitude even!
