Okay so I posted a thread previously about a 2003 gt I found advertised for $7500 with 67000 miles.
It has:
Short throw shifter
Cold air intake
Slotted Rotors
New Brakes
Tinted Windows/Tail Light
X pipe with Flow 40s and high flow cats
Deep dish black Cobra rims with Polished lip
Eibach springs and shocks
Grill Delete
Chin Spolier
HIDs

We brought it to a mechanic and there was a couple of issues(WIth their quotes)
* Heater coil needs to be replaced ($700)
* Mufflers have holes in them and need to be replaced ($500)
* Bearings need to be pressed in farther ($300)
* Tranny seal and another seal towards the front need to be replaced ($750)

So all together with repairs and sales tax the car is $10,200

Would you buy this car?? Is it worth the money and is it a good deal?

I need to get back to the guy by tomorrow so any help is once again appreciated

Prices for repairs are EXTREMELY high..
For example, $500 will buy you a whole lot more then new mufflers and the labor to weld them in.
Sounds like they are trying to make a $$ on you..

The quote for the exhaust came from Lou's custom exhaust they said to put new mufflers in including labor would be $500. The heater coil, the mechanic who knows my father very well said the whole dash would have to come off so the labor is why it's so expensive. And then he said he would have to pull the tranny to fix it properly. I trust this guy but I these are the prices I end up paying do you still think it was a good deal?

hey buddy i actually live near u and I've seen the car on craigslist. so while the car looks nice on the outside its the internals that make the difference on whether to buy the car or not. I would say hold off. If the car already has those type of problems it might have had a hard 67K miles, and while the problems arnt outrageous that is a bit of a laundry list for a car of that age. I just bought a mustang and nothing is wrong with it but now I'm feeling i should have held out and got the saleen i really wanted instead of making an impulse buy. I tell everyone its worth it to spend a bit more and wait for the car you love to be sure you goin be totally happy with no regrets. Good luck

I agree with you the only thing I'm thinking is for me to upgrade a car to where its at the same level as this one would cost me a lot more than $10200. I'm torn because I understand what your saying but I'm skeptical of finding something with the same upgrades for a better price

what kind of upgrades does it have? and when i went looking for my mustang i wanted to get a stock one which was difficult to find because lets be honest when we upgrade our mustangs i tend to think we beat them a bit more no? lol

sorry didn't see upgrade list at the top of the page..... theres really nothing there that is a must have upgrade in my eyes and definitely not anything you couldn't add to another mustang

I don't think that seems like that bad of a deal to be honest. The muffler replacement price is kind of ridiculous but the rest seems to not be that far off. How do you know the heater coil needs to be replaced? Is it leaking coolant on the passenger floor? Does the heat not work? That isn't a neccessity to be honest and $300 for the bearings to be pressed in further seems a little high too. Is he talking about the bearings in the rotors?

Also on the exhaust, it really doesn't matter that the mufflers have holes in them to be honest. Hell a lot of exhausts these days are just muffler deletes. If you like the sound of it getting new mufflers welded in will just make it quiter lol.

Yeah they heat was the last priority haha, but the heat doesn't work all they told me was that the coil needed to be replaced. And I believe it was the bearings in the rotors. He showed us under the car and they were not pressed in all the way so he said that the inside of the tire would be burning up and the alignment would be off.
