Hey everyone I just joined and am new to the site so bare with me if I posted in the wrong area. I had a.90 gt hatch but it was an auto so I traded for this 87 notch with a freshly rebuilt motor with a t5.transmission. well the guy said it has gt40p heads, trick flow upper and lower intake, bbk shorty headers, mad cap and rotor, an edlebrock cam he said he didnt know the specs, he said it has roller rockers don't know size, valve springs I think, 24 lb injectors, stock maf sensor what also makes me wonder if its an 87 motor with a maf conversion or just a newer motor cause he said it came without motor or tranny. So here's the problem, it starts fine, idles about 2000 for 3 seconds.and idles down to about 100 and surges between 1000 and 1350 until it finds its warm idle at 1250, tried turning the idle down but it just stalls out. Cleaned iac and it helped just a tad but not much at all, he said he should have bought an adjustable fuel pressure regulator before and he was planning on a 76 mm maf but we traded first. From all the research I did I basically need to reset idle, new fuel regulator, or larger maf and that should fix the idle and surging right? It doesn't surge all the time like when driving when I get going and put it.into neutral or.press clutch, sometimes it idles.down.to 950 or so and back up and sometimes it just wants to stall out and its not safe just stalling.out in.traffic and , has a clutch/transmission issue. Sometimes it letteraly bangs out of first gear
