Ordering my airaid CAI but I have the synthflow and synthamax filter oiled and non-oiled what it better?

The reasons they are considered "high flow" air filters is because they flow more but do that at the extent they won't filter the smallest particles as would a cheap paper filter. You can clearly see that by looking at them. That's where the oil comes into play, the oil will help catch particles the filter misses. That's why when using a reusable filter it's important to oil after cleaning. I recommend getting the oiled one.

Doesn't Airaid offer a non oiled filter? I thought it was supposed to be badass. All my GT500 friends use them. I don't know I'm just asking. They always worry about the oil getting through and messing up stuff. Of coarse that only if you over oil the filter.

Yes that's what I'm looking into ordering..

Bassicly the no oiled is like 550 flow and the oiled is 830

I'd get the oiled. All you have to do to clean your MAF is spray some cleaner in it a few times after re-oiling it, so it's not a big hassle to clean any excess oil off. Plus, any oil that goes in the intake won't harm anything.

I'm researching this question right now as I too am trying to decide on an Airaid. K&N has a good article on their site talking about the differences. Performance wise, you said it, oiled provides more air flow but not at the detriment of filtration. The oil allows for different material and construction and through the added layer construction, it can actually hold more dirt. The dry filter allows air flow and filtration with microscopic holes. When these holes get blocked, they affect performance but typically you just have to clean it out more often.

My thought right now is oiled. Better air flow.

Run oiled. Youll be glad you reached for the high flowing cfm filter in the long run. 550CFM is pretty low for air induction. There are some 4.6 3v Intake/Filter combos huffing over 1000cfm at the throttle body. Go oiled man, horse power numbers are at stake here!
