^It better be $ performance and some looks

What's the website?
Round looking things? Wut? lol

Are you talking about the coil packs?
Driver side, got three of them. Kinda glossy. Spark plugs are lower and always a pain. Idk what a cool pack is? That like a distributor or something?

On our 3.7 V6's, painting the valve cover would make the engine look lopsidied, as the passenger side cover is hidden behind the air intake runners; you don't see the cover. The only side you can visually see is the drivers side.

Painting it would give the impression of a straight 3 cylinder.
That's because of the type of engine. That's how the timing works. One is a few degrees lower so in theory they can be independent. I just read up on our type of motor. You probably already knew just thought I would share my joy of learning

Not sure what you meant by how the timing works, but maybe you are refering to the Ti-VCT (twin independent, variable cam timing)?

I was actually refering to painting the valve covers (or their close representation of one) would look goofy, because only one can be seen; the other (passenger) is covered by the long tubes of the air intake tubes. It will be interesting to see if anyone can make a center type air intake arrangement that can work as well as stock. Lots of V6 owners want an intake like the GT or better, the Boss. If ity could have been done, I'd think Ford or someone else would have had it by now.

But, there's always a better mouse trap to be made.

A distributor has a coil and coil wire running to the center right? Our motor has a coil for each individual spark plug. By design, they sit in the middle of the head (not the lower side near the exhaust) and the coils sit directly on top of them.

Yes I am talking about the ti vct engine. One side sits lower a few degrees and the manifold is like it because of the type of engine.

You learn something every day. :)
Btw, the timing works by small little actuators moving the cam shaft to alter their timing and durations with regard to valve control.

So the guys at Motor trend are idiots in a way?
So I'm looking at my engine

If he manifold didnt look so weird, it wouldn't look like a strait 3?

Or would I have to remove the manifold to see what you're talking about?

More than one type of variable timing system. I'd have to see the one they're talking about.

Probably should clarify I meant the cam timing... ignition timing is all computer related. It knows where the crank is on its rotation and increases or delays the sparks timing depending on conditions.

I just saw 2011 mustang first ride motor trend. I'd link but I do all my stuff on my iPhone. It's alot easier navigating on the app than the site
The valve timing (TiVCT) is how Ford designed the 3.7 to keep a smooth HP/TQ curve all the way up to it's max RPM. It uses several management inputs, along with oil pressure and oil temp. This way, they can adjust the intake and exhaust opening for a range of RPM's. This replaces the need for using cams that are usually designed to work within the 'sweet spot" of the engines RPM range that builds the max HP/Tq. With the Ti-VCT, you get this at all RPM ranges. Best of all worlds.
JimC dynod testes it. Utter failure. The runners weren't sized right or something and it made less hp than the stock mani. No idea if they're adjusting it or what.
It is being re-worked and they said it will be sent back to me for more testing. I haven't heard any ETA on the new intake yet though.

Subscribed. If this can get stock numbers (or better as a bonus), I'm on the list to buy!

Is there a website or something we can look at?

Awesome. Keep us up to date. I'd love to buy something like that if it offered gains. Looks way nicer than what we have and would make plug changes easier too.

That looks awesome! Can't wait for it to be completed!!
so how much will that end up being and cant I still bolt the CAI i have to it...?
That baby will get painted....and the maybe the valve covers ;)
I really can't tell you the price since I am only the 'test mule' - but they said it will be very competitive and should be attractive. The price point they mentioned for the production part wasn't outlandish I thought. Of course if the revised intake doesn't show any gains, they won't bother taking it to market they said - anticipating that most won't bother to buy it just to make it "look nice" under the hood.

One thing they plan to change on the next version is taking the downward angle off the throttle body mount and having it come out straight. It will still require some adjustment of the CAI tube since the current throttle body points toward the driver side and this one will be straight. If you saw the pictures from testing you can see that we ended up having to put the CAI up on the radiator cover because I didn't have the right angles on the pipe I bought to get it to fit.
I can always add an elbow.....i've made some 'home made' CAIs for friends....small adjust ment and 2 rubber couplings...and ill still be in business ;)
Thanks for the update there Jim. BTW...with installing the RTR kit...will an RTR dealer certify your car...? was a question from the Roush RS thread...
