The driveshaft wouldn't be a "waste" because it does more then just speed. It improves acceleration, fuel economy and overall handling of the car.

It improves acceleration, fuel economy and overall handling of the car.Unless its important for you to drive at speeds of 140 plus, waste of money for a new driveshaft as one of your first mods. One can clearly drive safe doing 120 MPH with the stock driveshaft on an enclosed track of course. Never on the public streets
A first must have mod is, sct bama performance tuner along 3:55 or 3:73 gears. Our stock 2.73 gears are horrible. That's around your budget.
CAI'S are great but you will only notice considerable gains when combined with aftermarket headers along with off road x pipe or high flow cattwd x pipe. That's down the road for ya.
I agree but nothing will improve the vehicles acceleration for a first mod with a budget of the stated OP like a custom performance tuner and gears. A shaftmaster one piece is like 700.00 plus. In my opinion that's a lot of money for something that may not provide that much more difference in acceleration. Certainly not for a first mod. One could put that 700.00 into a pair of headers and get more off the line acceleration than the driveshaft. The driveshaft wouldn't be a "waste" because it does more then just speed. It improves acceleration, fuel economy and overall handling of the car.
Then get full exhaust like I said and gears and tuneYea I'm not tryin to hit high speed just be able to beat someone off the line..
+1,Then get full exhaust like I said and gears and tune
Ok thanks..Then get full exhaust like I said and gears and tune
They come with 3.33's so idk if that's enough for u or notI have a question on this subject. If I got the performance pack, would I need to upgrade my gears also?
Even 3:31 that you have are real nice but I would either step to a 3:55 or 3:73. My concern with a 3:73 gear would be too much gear for the stock tires. There may be too much tire spin with 3.73 gear's on the stock V6 tires when you punch it from a dead stand still. Unless you plan on upgrading tires. They come with 3.33's so idk if that's enough for u or not
The 2013's still use the two piece driveshaftThe 2011/2012 V6's had a 43 pound two piece driveshaft. On the 2013 V6 Mustangs Ford decided to go to the Aluminum driveshaft. They probably had way to many failures with the two piece so decided to change it.
Spend your $$$$ on a set of Axlebacks and either a K&N drop in filter or a good CAI. You will be surprised how much better your car will run.

As others said, two documented cases. Both will not apply to you. You will need a LOT of money into it to get there.mrkrabz said:Before you do anything, you need to get a new driveshafts. The driveshaft on the 13' v6 is very unreliable. You can get it here.

If you push it to hard without a new shaft, it could snap on you, which could destroy the entire car.
After a new shaft, I would proceed to get a tune, CAI, and then a better exhaust.
It would be really hard to do in a stock car, or even cai/tune/exhuast, really. And people have had them tuned and 140 range on the autobahn on this forum and are fine.Charlie_santos said:It's not required as long as he don't take off the governor on the car. +A LOT. It is shown to be bigger than it really is.deadsp0t said::good: and there is no real evidence this is actually a real issue. To my knowledge there have been two documented DS failures. Been on a half dozen other forums and the same two videos is all I've seen.
I believe the new one is 32 pounds. So check what the weight is on your new one before you buy, you may not be saving like the 11/12 people. So if a 11/12 person got a 20 lber, that is 23 lbs, x 4 for rotational mass is like cutting 92 lbs out of your car. Plus more, really, but it is a good idea for a daily driver. As mrcrabz said, it helps you when you race, off the line, and when on the street going to the store or work. Performance when you want performance, fuel economy when you cruise. A functional mod.ronnie948 said:The 2011/2012 V6's had a 43 pound two piece driveshaft. On the 2013 V6 Mustangs Ford decided to go to the Aluminum driveshaft. GT owner snappe one in his 11-12 just from pushing it to hell. Not even breaking the speed limiter. So that's three, sir.:good: and there is no real evidence this is actually a real issue. The late 2013's have the one piece. I believe this was due to exporting the Mustang to Europe, where they have certain sections of highway that have unlimited speed limits (i.e. Germany's autoban). The 2013's still use the two piece driveshaft
