Okay so my car has had this problem for a while now and it's getting worse. I think it has something to do with the exhaust. Before, my service engine soon light used to flash on and off whenever I accelerated too fast on the highway. But it went away. Now it stayed on, and the car has been bogging down too. Now it's even worse and sometimes I'm accelerating and the light starts flashing. Every once in a while I hear a loud pop coming from the right side of my car probably under or close to my CAI. Could it be my CAI? Or one of my cats took a dump?

the loss of power and bogging makes me think cat issue...a flashing cel usually means a misfire, but with it being sparatic that could be caused by whatever is causing it to bog.

How can you tell if its a misfire? The car idles rough when it starts up after a while of just sitting there. When I fire it up and put it in drive its even rougher and the car jumps around

That is definitely the signs of a misfire. Mine had the same symptoms and I checked the coil pack and one of the coils was black, not bronze. I would recommend checking your plugs wires and coil then do a tune up (plugs, plug wires, and coil pack) and if that doesn't fix it, it's something way worse. Of you need a coil, get an MSD coil pack.

When the cel flashes, that means there is a misfire. If you can get your hands on a code reader, it will tell you what cylinder is misfiring

I just replaced the plugs about 1000 miles ago so the plugs are new. I'll take a look at the rest see what's up
