Like the title says I have a popping noise that is slow at idle and gets louder and faster as the rpms go up. I've been told its an exhaust leak, how do I go about fixing this problem?

go to an exhaust shop and tell them to find the leak...probably a simple weld issue...worse case senario it's coming from the passenger manifold.

I'd guess a manifold gasket before a crack in the manifold or exhaust. Not bashin you 1slow6 (as in no welding needed)...just usually a gasket leak..manifold gasket is my guess..

actually in a 94-04 v6 the most common exhaust leak is a crack passenger side manifold/header thanks to the a/c drip hose which sits right above it. ask me how i know :D

lol it happens....i hope it is just a gasket, but if that's the general spot the leak is coming from OP might as well buy some new headers lol. i know that's on my to do list on my current sixxer thanks to my crack

I can't afford any headers. I was going to just do whatever the absolute cheapest fix was and when I drive it sounds more like its coming from the drivers side more

When my 99 v6 manifold cracked the cheapest solution was to buy a new one which is 100 bucks but I didn't know any better the shop recomended patching it and I went along with it, total was 180... Yea I was an idiot lol. Regardless you're going to have to get in there and pull it out

If I went to autozone do you think they would have to part?

I can vouch for the ac runoff cracking the manifold piping or flange, :( no fun

Mine did the same thing. With the 99-04 sixxers it is a very common problem. Got it fixed when I had the cats removed. I believe there is a small drip tray guide thingy you can put on the condensor to keep it from cracking the manifold again. I'll have to poke around and see where the thread was.
