Inlet air temp is only one part of the equation. Air density also plays a huge role along with humidity and barometric pressure. Bit cooler temps do help.

Can't forget about altitude above sea level and dew point.

On a N/A mostly stock motor, these things won't make too much a difference. On a boost motor or one that's been highly modified, these things matter and make a difference. That is why professional racers pretty much have a portable weather station with them at the track and "tweak" the car before every run.
