Get a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the motor to check the oil pressure correctly. Don't go by the cars own instruments. You need to verify the engines oil pressure. I don't mean installing an autometer gauge either. Use an auto mechanics tool to be sure.

I agree, you need to get the actual oil pressure checked ASAP--or just buy a new "sending unit" (they are only $10) and see if that is the problem.

The "sending unit" on our cars is just a pressure switch that opens if the oil pressure is lower than 6 psi. That your gauge is dropping to 0 at idle is not a good sign, hopefully it is just the switch...
