What would be a fair price of the above mentioned car? Needs paint, and thats about it, 1 yr old engine, good breaks- tranny etc. Interior is in pretty good condition, new tires. Original asking is $3,000. Also please note any questions I might want to ask the seller about this car plz and ty =)

From what you describe this is a #4 car. Mostly because of the condition of the paint. $3000 should be a fair price for this car.

There are several options that either increase or decrease the value of this car so it is difficult to be very accurate. See the first link below for more information.

See the second link below to understand the condition codes. Be very honest with yourself when evaluating the condition of one of these old cars.

First question you want to ask is if the engine is original. The original matching numbers engine increases the value of the car. If it is not the original engine is it at least one of the same engines that was available in a Mustang in 1973.

Find out what factory options if any are installed on the car. Certain options will either increase or decrease the value of this car as I mentioned before.

FleetTech has some very good advice about inspecting the body. Heed his advice.

Sounds like a good price. Last year for the big Mustang, next year was that awful Mustang II.
Check underneath for rust, suspension mount points , rear spring mounts, floorboards.Check inside trunk for rust.
Mechanicals are easy to repair, body rust can get involved and expensive.
