Question about the Mach 460 system

3201 Views 20 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  lowflyn
I bought a 6 disc 460 system..just wondering if the actual cd player put out any bass or if all this is run through the amps instead..reason I'm asking is because the cd player I bought pushes absolutely no bass at all. I'm most likely going to buy a 4 channel amp and just run my speakers off this, but I'm still curious

i notice when i first turn my stereo on, sometimes it will play music before the amps turn on and it sounds like my alarm clock  . So your probably right
Ha aight, I gonna work on getting amps. I think I'm just gonna throw those 2 12's i have for sale back in and have some bass back lol

Yea, and use the headunit to power those two 12s.
Haha...no. I've got to figure out a way to make at least 2 preamp outputs from the stock stereo. I would just go with another aftermarket, but the stock unit just looks so nice in there. So now my next thing is to find a way to make preamp outputs...I might just have to tear the stereo apart and cut the amp off and use the wires going to the built in amp...this will be fun. At least I have stereos I can put in the mean time
If I had Mach 460 system, I would never go aftermarket. There really wounldn't be much of a point to.
Look around for a good eq. Often times they will have speaker level inputs and rca preamp outputs.

Better sound quality, fuller sound (if you do mids, components, and subs), more control over the sound. I seem to think the 460 is geared more towards metal than hard thumping bass-full songs. Metalica sounds great, some rap sounds great, but it takes some tweaking of the bass and treble on each song with most of my rap cds.

The only reason I want to keep my 460 is because I love the indash 6 disc. When it breaks, I will get the eclipse 8454...unless I come into some money, then I will get it sooner with the rest of my system.
That's why you upgrade to the Mach 1000 audio system. :D

i know :(
Yeh the 1000 is ok...but I can add 2 10 inch subs and an awesome amp and still have 1000 left over lol. I'm like smurfin..the 6 disc changer is so nice, that's the whole reason I got the thing. I'm going to go aftermarket with all the amps and speakers and such, just love the in dash 6 disc changer. I've thought about the equalizer too, just dunno if it'd really be worth it...may just mount one in my trunk with the subs and amps...just so I can control the music to an extent.
Yea, but then again it goes back to that factory sound system resale value stuff.
When I decide to sale this car...pretty much nothing will be stock anymore..lol
Im hella confused as of now. I have the mach 460 in my 03' convert. so could some guys at like brandsmart or some car audio place install like 2 10" subs with out messing with thw 460 system i mean i was also thinking about taking the door subs and speakers out and putting in aftermarket same with the stock amps in the back..would this work? and how elaborate would the wiring process be . thanks

I would suggest going to a real car audio place and let them do it if you do not have any working knowledge of wiring. :good:
I'm sure you've already figured this out by now, but the mach 460 has 2 external amps (one on each side of the trunk, under where the rear deck speakers are)
