Woah, been a while since you been on here! How's that Bullitt running? I saw you had gotten spray for your setup. Sorry, I'm not up-to-date on radar detectors these days.

I have an Escort Max II which is a digital detector and has the latest in filtering for Blind Spot Monitoring Systems and Adaptive Cruise Control. It works very well compared to an older Escort Passport and it is night and day better than the cheap Whistler detectors I have.

The latest and greatest from Escort is the Max 360 which has arrows like the Valentine. The other top shelf detector is the Uniden R3.

I used to have a Valentine 1 in my cars.. It worked well with k band radar and laser and never really had many issues with false-positives...

That said, this was over 10 years ago and I don't think the V1 has changed much since then. I do know that some radar guns are now using a different band than the old K band and some of the older radar detectors are essentially useless.

I have friends that have newer radar detectors (Valentine and Escort) and they still get popped more than you would think. Many of them have moved on to jammers, either the AL Priority or Stinger systems. Both of which cost a good bit of cash but are extremely effective and much better than any Escort, Uniden or Valentine.

I know a person who just had a Stinger system installed into a GTR and I think the cost was around $8,000. However, the car is nearly undetectable to anything the police have.

If you live near a large city, going with something that can be updated to police presence in real time might be the way to go. The Escort 360 offers this with the subscription or use Waze. Alternatively, I would recommend spending more money and getting an AL Priority system at a minimum.

AL Priority and Stinger sell laser jammers plus Stinger can include a radar detector.

Whether you want to invest big bucks in a laser jammers system should depend how widely laser is used in your area. I live south east of Boston and laser usage is only used by the state police on major hiways and even then it is pretty scarce. I know several cops and they all say the same thing; Laser is a pain to use and there is no reason to since they can write all the tickets they want using a radar gun.

That's insane, I can't imagine spending more than $1k on a detector, much less eight thousand dollars in tech that will be obsolete in the next 5-10 years.

The other solution is to just not drive like an idiot and speed out of your ***... That's free. I get highway speeding, everyone does it and those roads are designed for high speeds but back roads/county roads... that's just asking to get yourself or someone else killed.

Plus if your **** doesn't do the job it's supposed to and a cop nails you for going well over the limit because you thought you were safe good luck with that...

I do not consider doing 45 in a 35 zone speeding and that is the primary reason I have had a detector continuously since 1975. It is very hard to not drift over the limit when the traffic is light. It's the 5 to 10 over that I am worried about when a cop is having a bad day or has been directed to write tickets.

A 5 to 10 over ticket is $50 plus a $50 head injury surcharge. The there are points and surcharges on your insurance that add up to $1000 or more over the next few years.

Since I started using detectors I have not been pulled over by a cop using radar. As I previously stated laser is mostly non existent in the area where I live.

I remember buying a whistler device back in the late 80's. That thing made noise everywhere I went lol. Waste of money. I realize tech is better nowadays. Cops really give you the business if you get pulled over and have one in your car. They assume you are intending to ignore speed laws on the roads. I can't blame them for that lol. I don't speed when traveling through cities or states where I don't frequent. At home, I just pay attention to where they tend to sit and snag people and pay more attention to my speed in those areas. When you speed through traffic or do a top speed pull on the highway, you essentially have to trust that other drivers will see you and stay out of your way. I just don't trust any of them out there lol.
