Hey guys, looking to grab up a 5.0 here in the.near future and I was curious from all of you how the reliability is? Post any and all issues and how much the costs were! I can't have things going wrong on my car too often. Reliability is huge. And probably the only mods I'd engage in is a Bama Tune and CAI. How will that effect the reliability if any?

Had mine for about half a year and only problem I've had is someone hitting my door with theirs. The cost was one very angry day lol

13,200 miles almost 2 years in my ownership. Nothing minus oil changes and a seal in the trunk leaking. That was fixed in a few hours by a ford specialist.

Had mine since October 2011, and it's been going strong ever since. 6500 miles on it so far. The only little issue I had was the seat belt; the plastic piece somehow snapped cleanly in two, but thankfully the warranty covered it. No one has dinged my doors YET :uhh:

I got mine in February with 12,400 miles I added Bama tunes at 15k. I'm knocking at 29k right now. It a 2011 gt only problems is the "normal" notchy shifting and engine tick but the ticking has gone away since I started using 93 octane.

I wouldn't imagine the cai causing any reliability issues or the Bama tune.

Other than tires, no issues. But that is a function of my right foot.

I enjoy driving my car way too much just to let it be a garage queen. I understand some of you guys live up north and it's nearly impossible to drive in the winter months. I bet some of these car are two years old and has only had 2-3 oil changes.

Well, I don't have a new one by any means, but even my 87 still runs fine. The 5.0 are bullet proof if taken care of.
Completely different motor from the new 5.0. But you are right, my 87 5.0 just turned 190k on the original motor.

Lol I live in Canada and mine drives fine in winter. Studded winter tires. I've been driving mustangs in winter just fine since I dead 16 people who garage it etc thinking it will have better value by keeping it that way is no different then driving it in winter it's going to be worth the same either way it's not an old collector car. Those are the ones that need to be storaged to get more of a value.

Garaging it would keep the miles low, that's always a value saver.

Every car is different, no issues with mine, mine is not a daily driver, my daily driver is an 03 ford explorer, I have had no issues with that either.. Every day on the way to work I see vehicles on the side of the road, newer vehicles, so I think it is about how well they are maintained if you are buying used and well you maintain if you are buying new.. But like said before, in this day and age the cars are being built to last, they have to be or else we will be losing a few more car manufactures...

I say buy ford....
