Has anyone removed their factory tpms and installed them in another set of wheels? I'm planning to order new wheels and tires from A.M and would like to reuse the factory sensors. Is it difficult and do you need any accessories for the install? Thx

It might actually cost more to swap them over then it would to just buy a new set.

But to answer your question, yes you can. My friend did so on his '12 GT. but he still had to relearn the sensors. I think the dealer charged him for that. I don't know how much. Standby, I'll text him.

O.k Thx. I have the relearn tool from A.M. When I bought my stang I got them to include winter tires on rims and assumed they would come with tpms. Of coarse they didn't. : ( Could you ask him if it was hard or needed anything extra to buy to do so? Thx!

Swapping TPMS over requires dismounting the tire from the rim, removing them, then having to buy new bands to attach the TPMS since the old ones will get destroyed anyway...

By the time you pay for all these tires to be broken down and put back on the rim (are you leaving them as separate rim/tire sets?) it would almost negate the money spent on new sensors.

If you check your tires regularly and want a permanent fix, just get some TPMS, throw em in a container pressurized to 32psi and put it in the spare tire well. You'll never need to buy another TPMS again and no idiot light.

Sorry I took so long, he said they actually didn't charge him to relearn them and he had them swapped over at discount tire for $60 but for some reason, their relearning tool didn't work which was why he then took it to the dealer.

Np, Thx for the info! I might go that route to try and save a few bucks.I'm selling the stock 17" to a friend with an 05 and would hate to basically throw them away and have to spend 150 on new ones from A.M. I'm just going to spend the extra cash at A.M on stripes.
