Ok guys need some input ive been having idling issues brought it to a guy told me i had liters sticking and injectors and maf didn't match so ordered all new set of frpp roller lifters new 24lb injectors and bbk maf to match. Got it all installed now i have tapping on the valve train. All of the rockers are tapping but only 2 are loud. Kinda like there not primed but idk i called frpp and they told me that with roller rockers roller lifters and extreme cam that Im never gonna get rid of the tapping. Now all my stuff is brand new new 165 afr heads new lifters crane 1.6 rockers crane pushrods new custom cam with 575 lift springs rated at 600 lift could the loud knocking just be from a non primed lifter its coming from my number 4 cylinder. Rocker not lose not hitting valve cover also heard if i open my headers i wouldn't here the noise

And i set lifters to zero latch and half turn like ford said to do still knocking all through rpm range higher rpm louder the knock

Ok but why would it just decide to do it now and not when i first built the motor 3 months ago

What do you mean half turn? If you used the method of spinning the crank and going through the firing order to tighten the lifters then u should have went 1/4 turn increments. But there are many ways of doing this. The most important thing is.to make sure the valves were closed when you set 0 lash.

Did you soak the lifters at all? And I assume when u checked it they were tight, the valves where closed?

Sorry for the obvious question but many people including myself sometimes can get confused even if we have done it a lot of times.:good:

Well i did quarter turn because that's what Trickflow says then i called frpp they recommend half turn after zero lash i soaked the liters for roughly 24 hrs before installing them

ok i was thinking the turn crank 1/4 turn, not tighten rocker 1/4 turn. yeah when i did mine it was 1/2 turn to 3/4 turn. :good:

sounds like you did it right.

I know sometimes liters can be stubborn and not want to prime ill prolly end up manually priming the two that's making noise my brother did it on another busting so we gonna give it a shot and see what happens

hopefully it does the trick. how are u gonna do this?
pull the distributor and spin the oil pumpmwith a drill while manually turning the motor over?
or are you gonna pull the lifters? the reason i ask is because if you are gonna pull them i would try moving them to another cylinder just to verify your problem. i wouldnt do this if they were more used or if you werent already pulling them.

Pull valve cover put oil in a dawn dish liquid type bottle and manually compress lifter while trickling oil down pushrod on top of lifter till primed

Yep, it's worth it. I had to sort of make due with what I had this Summer and I do t want to do that again for my Spring build. It's only $12, not going to break the bank.

Well i used the ho firing order but if when they cut the cam they cut it for the other firing order it could be messing me up im gonna have it checked in a couple days to find out

Its alive and running good come to find out seems like a lifter was just stuck pulled valve covers checked everything and low and behold number 4 rockers were lose tightened them up reset and running fine
