So warmed my car up today for about 5 minutes before I left today..got in and boom service engine light...I know I have a weird sound coming from my exhaust but its been like that with no light and my mechanic told me my baffles in my mufflers are bad..so decided to upgrade my whole catback to SLP LM1 which are ordered from AM, installing hopefully this Friday or Saturday, ill have my mechanic check it out but could this possibly be a problem that is going to be fixed with a new catback? Car drives , runs, idles, all good and the same, nothing unusual I notice at all..thanks guys

I doubt a new catback will fix that. Take it to him and have him check it out

Um it depends. If you can't noticeably feel or see anything wrong you'll probably be okay. I'd take the risk to run over to autozone so you can diagnose the problem. Watch all ur gauges and make sure engine isn't smoking or making funky noises besides the exhaust noise you said you've been having

Or borrow a friends/parents car if you are really worried about it. You can rent those code readers from them

id like to know what they recommend as well when they pull the codes, i work at a pep boys in miami and usually what we do is we tell a client what can cause the problems but of course to actually narrow it down and be 100% u get charged a diagnostic.

Yea they said the diagnostic was a 44$ charge, told em to just pull the code for me...came back and said "get ya self a new gas cap, it's got a small leak..bought one right there and boom light is off

I assume it was evap system small leak then or large leak yeah if it fixed it then its a common fix

Yep no light..drove for about 50 miles too and still off...only thing is they only had gas caps with a lock on it, I'm in jersey where we cant pump our own gas, gonna be annoying to hand the attendant a key everytime .. Screw it tho I actually just left the key in the keyhole and there is still enough room to close the fuel door.

Yep no light..drove for about 50 miles too and still off...only thing is they only had gas caps with a lock on it, I'm in jersey where we cant pump our own gas, gonna be annoying to hand the attendant a key everytime .. Screw it tho I actually just left the key in the keyhole and there is still enough room to close the fuel door.

I hope that fixed it ,,but if they cleared the codes for ya,,it takes a while to get that code,,the car has to be between 25 and 85 percent fuel level before the PCM will do a self test

Code C0430. Checked it ou said bank 2 on the x pipe. I just put catted xpipe on 2 weeks ago so I either have a leak, bad O2 sensor or my car does not like going from 4 cats to 2.

This. I have a small EVAP leak that isn't the gas cap. What a horrid system.

It may be a cracked vacuum line to the evap. Sometimes its the vacuum on the passenger side near the firewall goin to the evap canister inside the fender. Id start looking for rotted lines

Its quite possible since u went from 4 to 2 cats. A mil eliminator should do the trick also cliffyk has the website http://www.paladinmicro.com/pmicro.php where it shows to make ur own eliminators which is wat i did and they work marvelous might i add.
