Ok informed ones, I just bought a couple new 2004 V6 Mustangs. One for me and one for my daughter. My dad is next. I guess getting nearly $7500 off the sticker was too much for me. Anyway, she's going in for mufflers on Friday. I've read most of your posts on mufflers. Here's were I'm at today. True duals behind the stock cats, H pipe made by the muffler shop, dynomax turbos and plain jane tail pipes like the stock v6 but two of them. What do you think? Will this combo feel like she lost some down low torque because the y pipe is gone? It's an automatic. I just want it to sound cool. I'd do flow masters but I'm afraid it would amplify that twangy v6 snarl. The turbos should subdue it. I'm not ever going to full hotrod it out. I've got my new ZX6RR to stomp the crap out of whatever I need to. My V6 Stang will never be asked to pull that duty. Any sounds clips of where I'm going here?

Hey welcome to V6stangs. No you will not notice any loss in torque. I am not sure why that continues to spread on the forums but it is just a myth. Dynomax Turbos are sweet sounding That is what Roush use to use. Vipers, Prowlers iuse that muffler.
Flowmaster buzz and drone real bad at highway speeds I had them and took them off.
Unless you are going to do engine mods the H-pipe is not required but if you desire a H pipe nothing is stopping you.

Thanks Danger Dude. I always get nervous before I start modifying stuff. It goes a long way back. I'm 47 but more of a kid than most people here. Don't ever totally grow up. I've owned and driven sprint cars and funny cars. I still have a blown 500 ci Keith Black Hemi sitting at my buddies shop from my funny car days. I'll never forget my high school friends 1974 Capri. It had the old 2300 in it. He put the clifford 4 barrel manifold on it, 390 cfm holly 4 barrel, big cam, trick ported head, trw pistons, headers and lots more. Then the funny part. He got his ass handed to him by a totally stock 1974 Capri. All that motor work and he left the stock 2.something gears in the rear end. What a bad combo that was. A motor that wanted to rev and gears for the salt flats. I've just seen too much stuff not work out right. I'm a friend of the guy that owns Gibson Exhaust. We put a stainless steel system on my old PT Cruiser and it was LOTS slower than stock. Not to mention you couldn't hear the stereo at freeway speeds. The PT lost too much back pressure. I ended up putting one of my extra Buell Super Trapp Muffler Cones on the back of that PT. It worked tons better with the extra back pressure. It looked pretty weird with this 2 foot stinger hanging out the back of it. Shawn Gibson couldn't believe it. I really love flow masters but I don't want to listen to my wife complain every time she rides in the Mustang. Thanks again for the reply.

Hey I understand I am 43 and been car modding for over 20 years mostly Camaro's but I jumped ship and decided to get into mustangs. No you wont see any of the problems you had with the PT Cruiser. As for the Flows they droned so bad at Highways speeds about 2000 rpm up, then above 3000 rpm they would have a bad ricey buzz. I had the muffler shop take them off after 3 days and I had them install Dynomax Ultraflows on my car.

And if your still wanting something like a Flowmaster that won't drone,or buzz, get Mac Flowpaths. Theres also Warlocks, ive heard are nice, you can uncap them when you want it loud, or just leave the caps in, I haven't heard any clips of those though. but of all the mufflers Flowpaths and Dynomax are the best sounding IMO

Did you read his post!!! This is for his car and his wife will be driving it. He is 47 he does not want to wake the dead, just give it a nice sound that will be acceptable for him and his wife. You have to remember people over 30 tend to want a nice sound but not be to obnoxious!!!!

Then Dynomax turbos it is. I ran those on my 1978 Macho TA and liked them a lot. That was a fun car. Everybody just assumed it was slow being a 1978 Trans Am. Most were 16 second dogs. Not mine. Pontiac 455 super duty not the Olds 403. 4 speed, 4.11's, Ram Air IV Heads, Ram Air IV Cam, Hookers and 3" Tubing. That car sounded good and could back it up. Super low 12's corked up. My funnest race was against a new Lightning Ford back in the mid 90's. The guy even challenged me at the light. I wouldn't normally waste my time on a pickup. He ended up following me home and wanted to know what was done to the car. You can't always assume stuff. Now if I need a fast fix, I dig out one of my sportbikes. That's why I bought a V6. No point in a V8. Most of them really are not that fast. Fast is a 10 second quarter. Once you a Mustang to that point, it's not a practical daily driver. My ZX6RR does 78 mph in first at 16,000 rpm. 60 comes up in 3 seconds (some people claim 2.9). Why even try to make your Mustang quick? Take the $8000 that you would spend to make your GT quick (and a time bomb) and buy a sportbike that will run 10's all day stock. Just my 2 cents.

I had a few Bikes I was a Suzuki fan. I had a Katana 1100 and a GSXR 1100 before I had kids and they were fast, my fastest car was a 1978 Z-28 with 600 RWHP and 750hp with a 150 shot of Nitrous. That car looked bone stock including the stock Z-29 rims. The only visible mods on the exterior were traction bars and the car was lowered.
Oh I also made the Hood scoop functional.

Actually my wife doesn't drive it much. She prefers her new M3. I get the V6 Mustang (saved it from being a rental car), she gets the 2003 M3. You have to keep mama happy. I try to balance it out with all my motorcycles. The formula is: 2004 V6 Mustang + 2003 ZX6RR + 2000 TL1000R + 1999 R6 + 2002 1600 Roadstar = 2003 M3. I have more toys but her car costs about the same as all my stuff together. Her M3 is pretty hot though. I think 60 comes in 4.9 seconds. I pick on pimple faced kids in ratted out civics with it.

I like picking on pimple faces kids in my stang. They are always trying to picking on me. I had one come up after I embarrassed him and said " Nobody mods V6 mustangs"" HAHAHHAHHAHAHA

I love the TL1000R. Tons of torque. I'd bet on the ZX6RR being able to take it though. The TLR weighs about 60 lbs more than the ZX6RR and only makes about 5 hp more. I'm in total amazement as to what's happened with the 600 cc class sportbikes in the last year. They should be illegal to sell to the public. 355 lbs, 125 HP at the crank, 112 at the wheel from a 600. These things are rocket ships. I raced a late model SS Camero by UCR last Sunday and it was a total joke. What a dog that thing was.

I live in Lake Mathews. Traveling through Corona and Riverside on a daily basis :)
I have a battery plant in Corona and two in Georgia. We have one of those giant buildings that you can see from the west bound 91 on the south side after you go past McKinnley. Eibach Springs is right around the corner from me.

So you take Magnolia to get to the plant then :) I'll jsut have to make a few more passes over there to see if I can see your car :) I work off of Lincoln, on the Northside side of the Freeway :)

Coming from Riverside on the 91 to Corona, you would take the second McKinley exit that routes you under the freeway. When you go under the freeway there's a Carl's Jr there. The next street you come to is Sampson (right before you get to the RR tracks). Make a right on Sampson. We are a couple miles down on the right side. You can't see us from Magnolia. Actually you can if you look right (towards the 91) up Promanade (I think) as you go past the new Farmers Boy. Our plant has a dark red stripe on it. It's a big plant.

Then yes, I know what building you're talking about :) And I still to this day hate those RR tracks in the afternoon. Either the metrolink or some damn freight train ALWAYS shows up.
