I own a 1979 with a 302 and c4 and recently installed 373's and now the trans shifts up and down differently. For example it stays in second too long and shifts from third to second and back when at low speeds. Any one have any advice on how to correct this problem?

It is stock, but the kickdown rod is not connected because I put an Edelbrock carb on and have not got an adapter. It shifted fine until I changed the gears though.
