I have been looking a short shifters and I am not sure which ones will perform the best. I like the steeda tri or there is one made by MAC. They are on the V6mustangstuff.com and I was wondering if those were any good or you guys can suggest something that would be more suitable.

I would only go with a tri-ax, but that's just me. I love mine.

go with the steeda tri-ax. i have it in my 2000 v6 and the shifts are stiff and precise. you'll never miss third.

Well it could either be your syncros inside the tranny are screwed up, or you're not pressing the clutch down all the way when trying to shift.

I am hoping it is my clutch problem because i just bought the car and would hate it to be the tranny.

does getting a new short shifter make it so the shifts arent tilted toward the driver and is straight now? Because I hate the way the shifter is mounted stock.

No, the shifter handle is shortened about 33% so that the distance your hand has to travel in order to shift is considerably less which means faster shifting.

also the shorter distance the shifter handle is the more pressure or force you will need to put ur shifter into gear. i have a tri ax and i have the handle on the shorter setting and going from 2nd to 3rd is stiffer than when the shifter handle is in the longer setting. i like the shorter setting because it just looks a lot nicer. if you have problems getting it into 3rd you might not have set the stop screws right that are at the top and bottom of the shifter or it might just be a tranny or clutch. it happened to me and i found out it was the clutch and got a spec stage 2 clutch. after that i didn't have a problem getting it into any gear.

a steeda shifter acutally tilts the shifts the to the driver the most out of all the short throws. the MAC and PRO 5.0 shifters do to but only slightly.

B&M, Steeda Tri Ax, pro 5.0 are the main brands i hear about. I have a B&M but have drove cars with all the ones I listed, all are great and shift about the same, the Pro 5.0's handle sucks for position in a 94 up... so you might want to look into getting a steeda handle~ or something, the Steeda is a great shifter, it has drive train noise that you hear more than the other shifters and really springy but is taller than the other shifters by a bit, may be more comfortable in the long run due to this, the B&M is what I have, the solid one peice, which they now have the version you can take teh handles off, and its a nice shifter not super springy and is quite, but even with road noise some more insulation will take care of it.

its true the steeda does create a lot of gear whine due to the removal of the rubber isolators of the stock shifter. i goes can get annoying if you let it get to you but its not hurting your tansmission.

As I have been looking around there are like 3 different types of steeda triax shifters. So what one would exactly fit my 04 v6?

You need the one for a t-5 or t-45, I believe the others are for a t-3660 and a t-56.

Yes, when you go to order it, it'll say something like it works for both t-5's and T-45's.

i have now converted three tri-axers to B&M rippers.
triaxs are a two piece design like stock. b&m's are one solid peice.
find people with both and make your own judgement.
