Nothing illegal about 1 side mirror. Cars came like that for years

Matter of fact, Im sure you can drive around with no mirrors if you wanted too. Unless maybe you are a commercial or freight truck.

Yup, 'stangs of that vintage came from the factory with one interior rear view mirror, and one external on the drivers side, you could however, order the riders side mirror, as an extra-cost option, so both are correct, and both are legal in all states and countries, unless the driver is handicapped, and requires 3 mirrors.

I am not even sure a driver mirror was standard. In the old days all you had to have was an interior rearview mirror. A passenger mirror was not standard. We had a 1978 Nova, bought new with out it. Our 1961 Mercury had only a door mirror. It is not illegal to drive without it; the DMV cant fail a car for having the necessary equipment when it was made. Otherwise you would be installing lap and shoulder belts, which would cost a fortune and ruin the originality.

In some dealerships, some states, and some countries, the second door mirror was added at the time of delivery. Installation costs, and parts were added to the factory billing. This option became mandatory until the factory complied with local laws. Left hand drive cars in England, Australia, and Japan followed the U.S. lead a year or so later.

Shouldn't have any problems driving it with the one door mirror, unless your drivers liscense states that you must have both side mirrors to operate a vehicle. It's a restriction they put on some people due to poor eyesight or certain handicaps.

Make sure that you install a fire wall as the gas tank in located under behind the back seat. Many caught fire when in collisions causing many deaths. Ford paid the suits off instead of ever recalling them Just some fYI.

Back in the 50's and 60's it was common for cars and trucks to only have one mirror on the drivers door and the inside rear view only and it was legal............ujn

I believe a passenger side side view mirror was an option. I drive my 66 with only a driver's side mirror all the time. Nothing illegal about it.
